Hi Bob, 
I agreed with you all the way through your message,  then I saw the USAF Ret. 
Bless you and all veterans. 
My father was the captain of a B24 during WWII, and oh how I wish he/we had 
written down the stories he had to tell!  Add to that the ones he told about 
his childhood, parents, and especially grandparents and we would have had a real 
treasure.  We are fortunate in that at least he told us, but alas we as 
youngsters did not fully appreciate what we were hearing, so much of it has been 
forgotten. 
I agree with you in the hope that the story tellers write it down, and would 
encourage the listeners to do the same.    MIdge
