Hi listers:

In 1943 my father bought the 20 acres that were the remains of the Shea homstead; now the site of the Visotors Center on Foster Lake, east of Sweet Home.

One day my uncle (I think Guy Houk) came to visit. He tricked my brother and me into chopping kindling by telling us we could build a rabbit trap. We stacked it up in a square formation... about 4 feet tall. We never caught any rabbits, but my mother was thankful for the kindling! These were the days of no electricity and wood stoves.
