Thank You Carla;

YES! that is what I was looking for, apparently I didn't look closely at
your previous response to my quandry.

You have just provided me with the information I needed to connect myself,
albeit buttonhole connection only, with those folks. Hopefully the other
folks that ARE connected to this line will pick up on this post as I picked
up a bunch of stuff to copy and send to them while I was in Roseburg. I
spent 47 dollars on copies over there and was in the clerks office from
10:30 untill about 4:30, so you can understand my frustration. As to why
they married in Grass Pants instead of Roseburg I can only speculate they
must have had other reasons for being there besides ease of travel. If they
were going from the upper end of Cow Creek or some other summering place in
that area it would make a lot of sense, but I would have to think that
getting from Azalea to Roseburg in 1920 should have been easier by far than
going south as I believe the Railroad was in before that and it runs up Cow
Creek from Riddle. I know it would make more sense from higher up because we
were working up in the upper end of the Cow Creek drainage and decided just
for fun to take the freeway home. We dropped off the hills onto the freeway
somewhere near Grants Pass and drove back to Tiller by way of the freeway
and up the Umpqua from Canyonville instead of spending 2 1/2 hours driving
30 miles of gravel we spent 2 hours driving fifty miles or so of pavement.
Of course if anyone had reported us along the way we'd of been in trouble
for being "off the direct line of travel" from our job to our station.

So now I get to travel to the Josephine County courthouse too. By the way;
you say "int the account that I have" and I am wondering just what account
that is? I am sure the other folks connected to this family are curious too.
Please give us a title or whatever, if it is something we can find
independently, or is it a private family document?

Thank you again. I will be sure to let you see the results of my research.
As soon as I get through with this and another old business query I am
finally getting around to dealing with I will disconnect and call my neice
to let her know what I have found.

Les C

Les...
I'm still not sure what you're looking for and you may have this
information, but I show Asa John Jones b. Dec 4, 1906 at Azalea, Douglas
County, Oregon d. Dec 16, 1986 at Grants Pass, Josephine County, Oregon;
married Verla Mae Holloway b. September 21, 1913 at Myrtle Point, Oregon d.
June 25, 1977 at Roseburg, Oregon. I show their marriage taking place
November 29, 1929 at Grants Pass, Oregon. In the account that I have, Asa
John Jones is the son of Susan McGinnis (Maginnis) and Sanford Goodel Jones.
I show one other son, for Susan with Mr. Jones and that is Frank James
Jones, born December 16, 1907 in Azalea and died ca. 1973 in Salem. I know
that Susan's descendents connected with Keller, Buschman, Nelson, and Troyer
surnames, but I don't have dates, etc.

Given Azalea's location, it would have been probably easier to access Grants
Pass than Roseburg in the 1920's. I'm assuming you also know that Susan
McGinnis was married to Marcellus Rondeau and had numerous Rondeau
offspring.

The Douglas County Museum library at the Fairgrounds just south of Roseburg
has a fairly comprehensive collection of family information for many early
families.

I'm not connected with this family in any way...I've just got information on
a number of South Umpqua Valley pioneers, particularly those in the
Canyonville, Days Creek, Tiller-Drew area.
