Cecil, I hardly know of anyone who has had a more colorful life than you! You must have a karmic connection to the strange, the bizarre, the unexpected. Ha!

They robbed the bank in Sweet Home I forget the year, but it was some time in the late 1940's, but it was before 1948. The old bank building on Long Street is now gone, but for years there were bullet holes in the outside walls of the that bank; the result of a holdup. My brother (the late Doug Houk), was playing down on the Santiam River, near the covered bridge at Foster. He saw some fellows hide "something" in the bushes near that bridge. He told our father about it, and dad went into town and called the FBI. This story was reenacted on one of the radio crime programs that were so popular back then. In 1948 we moved from Foster to near the east end of Long Street. Guess who lived next door? The family of the young man, fresh out of jail, who was party to that robbery!!! YIKES!!!!!!!
