My gr gr grandfather, Nineveh Ford (1815-1897), was a gutsy fellow. When a brige was built across the Walla Walla river that took trade away from his location... he moved the bridge closer to his place! Read about it at:

This is from the book "Adventism on the Northwest Frontier", by Doug Johnson.
Nineveh was born in Ashe County, NC, in 1815. He removed to MO circa 1840, and in 1843 crossed the plains to Oregon with his younger brother, Ephriam Ford, in an oxen powered wagon. You may read about this at:

Nineveh's mother was Mary Eggers. One of my Eggers 5th cousins was born here in San Diego, and lives about 5 miles from me today! It is a small world.
