frances, we have a hit. u./g. shaver i did not know but i knew hazel quite well. when she found out i was a genealogist she wanted me to find her mother. hazel was in her 90s at the time. nettie was my grandmothers sister, and while they lived very close, i don't remember my g.m. ever speaking of her. hazels mother who was flora miranda bonney hutchinson abandoned her first family of david isom hutchinson and herself and married his brother who was a good deal younger that she was. i have a copy of flora and miranda bonney's divorce and i have both their death certificates. david was buried in a cem. behind wash. square but no stone so that is not good. after flora divorced him for his brother william amer hutchinson, none of the first four of her children would even speak to her. her and william had two children, and i am in contact with the gr. grandaughter of one of them. as i lam sure you know the vhalos family had extensive holdings on the river bottom there. the protocol on this sight, i think, is HAVE A GOOD TIME but supposedly no flaming. hazel had two sons i believe. which one do you descend from. the valhos had a store up near what was then called portland state univ. although my aunt and i went in the store and introduced ourselves, hazel didn't remember it. do you happen to know where hazel is buried. i need pics of both hazel and clifford's gravestones. i collect them on the family. pretty gruesome i know but what the heck. i have a pic of hazel and one of her sons that showed up about the same time my aunt and i did. there seems too be an assumption in that family that nettie ran away with some guy and both of them were killed in the great fire in san fran. i don't think anyone knows for sure but hazel said she never heard from her mother after she left and neither did anyone else in the family. the two kids that flora had with her second hutchinson husband were netties first cousins and also her half brother and sister. what a mess.as far as flora's first husband david goes, he had cancer in the late 1800s and since they didn't know much about cancer they put him in the chicken coop out back and took meals to him and just put them on the stoop. i have a feeling he died a horrible death. i have a large 8 1/2 x 11 pic of david and william's father quite a few of aunt lydia who was the girl from flora and williams marriage. they also had a boy but he is very elusive. i can't find your e-mail address but would love to have it. if i can help, just let me know. i would also enjoy your lineage from hazel down. thanks for writing. i am ill with diabetes and cancer but i still get along. if i were you, i wouldn't wait too long. what city do you live in and state.
cousin gary in sun city, az.

Hi, I had tried to respond to your search for info on Ulysses Shaver, but it was held up by the administrator as I wasn't a member. I am curious about your interest. U.G. Shaver was my great grandfather on my fathers side. Hazel Frances Shaver, my maternal grandmother. I have heard stories about Nettie leaving them when Hazel was about 8 years old and Clifford a little younger. I sent another email with information but I don't know if you got it. Im also unsure of protocol on this site...seems a little unusual. Thanks
