FYI: I attempted to get info on my Dad from NARA and finnaly ended up writing to them. I have my Dad's ID disk from WW1 and his Service number.
They wrote back to me with a nice letter which indicated my Dad had the rank of Sergeant, but that was all they could give me as those records had been burned in a large Fire!
