As I've noted earlier I volunteer at McChord AFB, Washington. I am the Office Manager of the Retiree Activities Office (RAO). Almost all Air Forece Bases have such an Office. We have about 30 Active Volunteers who man this Activity from 9 to noon 5 days a week. Our job is to help retirees and their spouses with ID Cards, Casualty assistance and general Information for Retirees.
One thing we've noted is that a number of Retirees and their Spouses are not aware that they are most likely eligible for TriCare For Life, If they have Medicare Part B. This turn out to be complete health coverage including medications, for both the Retiree and his.her Spouse.
Retiree ID Cards can be obtained at most military Bases including National Guard and Reserve. This entitles one to Base Access, Commisary, and Exchange Access.
If you are not near a Military Base try contacting the neares Veterans Affairs Office, where you can obtain considerable info on your Veterans Benifits.
Wives and Widows of military personnel also have certain privilidges and should check to see what is available. If you need info please call our office at 253-982-3214 or email rao at mcchord.af.mil
