I was searching for a book of Cousin Bob's yesterday and ran across my copy
of Douglas Co Hist. Soc. Newspaper index; 1867 - 1874

I will do look-ups for anyone interested by the way, but specifically for
you I found nothing under Northrup or Howell, I just realized instead of
Shaw I was looking for Snow (and you say your memory is bad from old age,
what's my excuse?) but forgot to look up McCumber;

I notice you also have the surname Harris; Harriet Shaw's maiden name, there
are 12 entries for the surname Harris, would those be likely to be of
interest?

I know the Plaindealer is available on microfilm at Douglas Co main library
in Roseburg, and am sure it is also at Knight Library in Eugene, but not
sure if there is any way for you to access any of this stuff directly unless
someone on the list has access to film of these papers through ancestry or
LDS. This may sound  ludicrous but as close as I am (90mi) I don't make it
there very often, last time was Thanksgiving 2005.

Next thing I completely forgot, next time we be doing lookups, people remind
me to look here, in Donation land claim index;

SC = settled claim	(X) = his mark	O of A may mean Oath of Allegiance?
possibly meaning foreign born person?

Okay the boss says  I gotta go to work, this is all I turn up for McCumber,
find nothing on John Shaw besides this in volume two, will try Rsbrg and Vol
one when I get through helping her clean up our neighbors yard, what a way
to spend my fourth of July weekend!
