I had never heard the story, but will ask hubby. He was raised in this area
and knows EVERYTHING.
He had never heard of Melvin Butte, let alone the story.
Someone at the Deschutes County Historical Society might know something.
McArthur usually credited his source if it was not general knowledge but
nothing noted here.
