blm-glo lists Samuel H Dorrance with claims in Deschutes County. 1907 was
his claim. 1908 was a claim by Vida M Dorrance and John C Dorrance, minor
orphan children of Samuel H Dorrance.

This should give a clue as to a date that the murder was supposed to happen.
