[or-roots] Census help - Carns

Okay, now it make a little more sense, Jessie is still at home in 1880, and
listed as female. So in 1870 all that is wrong is gender. Nancy Jane is
fascinating, one could hypothesize all sorts of notions about George
marrying a woman whose sister had the same name as his own sister, but
that's probably just my evil mind. It does complicate things though when I
went looking for Nancy his sister in the census I found Nancy his
sister-in-law and it really confused me for a minute, since the latter is my
great grandmother.

As to the number of children thing, I guess the census taker might not have
read his notes right, or maybe Sarah felt spiritually that Emma was still
alive or she didn't understand the question; maybe she thought the
categories were total pregnancies and children born live?? Another good
place for lots of psychological second guessing.

Thank you again Ingrid, this will really tie that family up in a neat
package..

        Les,
Jessie MORGAN Carns b. ab 1863. If this info is reliable, other middle
names listed were Cynthia ANN & Nancy JANE. Don't know what to say about not
acknowledging a child that passed young. Your kin covered all the states
mine were in except I don't think I have any Wisconsin even though the name
does pop up there too.

Ingrid
