[or-roots] intresting name stories

OK you folks have gone on long enough on this  subject to bring out one of 
our family stories.  My mother always  said the neighbors on their lane in 
Adair County, Iowa were: Ramsbottom,  Snelling, Steers, Butts, all in a row.  
I was shocked to find  everyone of those names on a census, proving Mother 
right.  
 
I'm not so sure about her story that a school teacher  sent home a note to 
the Ramsbottom parents, saying that was a terrible  name & they should 
change it.  The parents put the teacher in her place  when the note they sent 
back said they had changed their name.  Use  your imagination for the original 
version.  I surely hope that was just  another of Mother's stories, but you 
never know!
