I just had this problem at work the tech went into a site on the computer that lists the downloads updates and deleted IE8. We now use IE7.
If you go to control panel and find the windows update icon. Double click on it and you will see something that says view update history. Click on it. It will list all the updates on your computer. That is where you can delete IE8.
Hope this helps

It is virtually impossible to uninstall IE 8 or any version of Internet Explorer. It is so entwined in the operating system
it is unbelievable. Its like a persons central nervous system.
i sent three links to help with the problem of gunkware.
They are all free. Malwarebytes (the first one) is absolutely
amazing as far as cleaning up goes.
AVG is the best virus protection possible. i recommend getting both and running both even if you have another virus program.
The 3rd link is to Mozilla where you can download the Firefox
browser. i recommend you get Firefox after you run Malwarebytes and AVG.
These will take some time to run (hours) but it may well be worth it.

I don't know anything about a Virus Soft program, but I have had computer hangups with IE8, and have tried unsuccessfully to uninstall it. I'm now using Firefox.

When I downloaded IE8 the other night It came with a Program called Virus soft from Microsoft's download site, the Virus Soft program told me all my programs on my computer were infected with a trojan virus and wanted me to download their Virus Soft program, which installed with automatic updates, but to active I had to pay $60.00, I could not open any of my programs or even get into the internet, It would not let me uninstall it or remove it, as I said I had to do a full restore of my computer to get my computer back and I still to not have everything back to normal.
I sent an Email to microsoft and they will not even reply.

Glen
I’ve had IE 8 on one of my computers for months. No problems yet. No question of
virus checking programs (of course I already had one on the computer). Maybe
there’s some other problem?

My Computer just crashed this morning, whatever you do, DO NOT upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, it has its own
virus program, and locks up your computer until you download the program at $60.00, I had to do a complete restore of my computer to git rid of it, it will not uninstall, or let you into any programs including the internet.
