Have tried that. I can uninstall IE8 security updates, but there is no option to uninstall the program itself.

I just had this problem at work the tech went into a site on the computer that lists the downloads updates and deleted IE8. We now use IE7.

If you go to control panel and find the windows update icon. Double click on it and you will see something that says view update history. Click on it. It will list all the updates on your computer. That is where you can delete IE8.

  Hope this helps

It is virtually impossible to uninstall IE 8 or any version of Internet Explorer. It is so entwined in the operating system
it is unbelievable. Its like a persons central nervous system.

i sent three links to help with the problem of gunkware.
They are all free. Malwarebytes (the first one) is absolutely
amazing as far as cleaning up goes.
AVG is the best virus protection possible. i recommend getting both and running both even if you have another virus program.
The 3rd link is to Mozilla where you can download the Firefox
browser. i recommend you get Firefox after you run Malwarebytes and AVG.
These will take some time to run (hours) but it may well be worth it.
