By the way, I did go on the Morrow County History website that talks about George Vinson settling on Butter Creek in 1852, which would explain why James S. Vinson and family moved from Clackamas to Cayuse in the 1860's and then to Lena by the 1880 census.  But the website does not make clear if the community was named after George or whom.
