I am going down to the Archives this next week if I can, and I will see if I can find anything for you. 

I wanted to go this week but a medical problem held me up, but have books due back at the State library this next week, so plan on going to the Archives also.

Well, she is buried in the old pioneer cemetery in Portland so I guess that would be the same county where she died. I contacted the cemetery but they couldn’t give me a date that she was buried because they don’t have records that go back that far. They also couldn’t tell me if her grave is marked but they do have the plot number. Dale P.S. her name was Verna Marie Hardwick and she was my mother’s half sister. I research at the archives quite often. We have just received the records from 1959 and opened them to researchers as of Monday the 4th. You can send an email request to the reference desk at: reference.archives at state.or.us Cost for death certificates for in-state resident is $5.00, out-of state resident is $10.00 Of course you are always welcome to visit in person and make a copy for .25 cents.
