Are you referring to the WISS 1844 thing?  The Civil War didn’t start until 1861.  The 1844 thing could have been Indians war.

I checked with the people who have the records of that cemetery and they said there are only records for about 1/3 of the people there, then there is a section that was used for generic burials with no markers and some other things, its just a mess. Americans seem to be good at messing up records. What gets me is a marker with his civil war year and no dates of birth or death, I thought that was the most important thing to put on one.

Oh of course the name <LOL>

   I been asking folks for years and never found any thing out.

	The IOF was the International Order of Foresters, the IOOF was the Odd Fellows prehaps the engraver got the two mixed up, the Old Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene was the IOOF Cemetery, until the name change.
