Yes, or they may have been known by names that would really confuse the issue if you have no record of what the name means. The logging camp that I own a piece of south of Cottage Grove was often referred to as "the Banana Farm." And no that isn't a reference to the sanity of the associated landowners, but to the fact that it was perceived as warmer weather in our little valley than was the case in town. I think that was mostly a misconception since I have driven to town several times with snow still clinging to my vehicle and had folks think I must have driven in from Diston or some similarly high elevation location, but I am sure you can still find old timers who know where "The Banana Farm" is in south Lane County.
Also being named for the owner brings you right back to an ID as useless as my PO box example if that is all you have; which Booth Kelley camp or Woodard or whatever. The Banana farm was actually the first location for Bohemia Mill, though it wasn't Bohemia at the time.

company as well as the Camp Five or ?? Etc.
