Thank you, Chris, for sending the instructions for this. I'm not known for
missing "clues", but I surely did on this one.
This is not entirely intuitive - nowhere does the image say "click on the
state" or any other "search" hint.
IF you should happen to leave the image open, eventually you might "clue in"
that when the box floats over to an orange state the message is different.
But WOW, not what we usually are expecting from FS.
Thanks to you, I did find parents and sister - they were in Burns, not
Seneca or Kinzua - and the information was correct except they indexed my
Dad's name Levonn. The enumerator wrote it LeVonn. Neither is right. It was
LeVon. Now, my mother gave the information, and I'm pretty sure she knew how
to spell the name, so we have a double "error." First the Enumerator, then
the Indexer(s) who apparently ignored the capitalization.

In the upper right corner is a 1940 logo'ish thing with writing underneath.
Clicking on the logo will bring up a map, click on the red, white and blue
map.
It will divide into state.
Click on Oregon and you should be good to go.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having the problem with the census site that
I am. It wants a user name and password to log in, but no matter what I try
it won't accept a user name. Help!

OR-rooters,
Looks like 1940 for Oregon is now fully searchable. It is amazing what can
be accomplished by the efforts of volunteers!
