[or-roots] More Census whining

It gets stranger, according to the South Danvers civil registry the grandson August Towne Meacom was born on the 23rd of September 1860, but in the June 15th 1860 census record where his father George and his grand father Ebenezer are the same age, he is born two months before the census and is a girl?? So either the civil registry is way off, or the parents were confused about the distinction between due date and birth date when they were answering the census questions.
According to the age listed at time of death I would say the civil registry got fouled up, I suspect a copying error, the date is clearly written Sept in the birth registry, but calculating backwards from the date of death puts his birth on 22 April.
It is a good thing I like to do puzzles because otherwise this stuff would drive me insane. Or am I already there>

#yiv1558773263 p {margin:0;}The Census is only as accurate as the person giving the information, my father was carried on
the Umatilla reservation census for twenty years and never lived there his first 20 years but his
grandmother reported him as living their.

I am sure the older one like being 10 years younger but I bet the younger one did not like being 20 years older. Thanks for the chuckle.

Found a real good one today, off in my distant cousins on the eastern seaboard and find father and son two doors apart in the 1860 census both listed as age 47, nice try guys but dad was 57 and son was 27.

Love to know how that got where it got to.

And I would really love to show it to the lady at North Bend FHC who insisted I had to assume the information was more or less correct.
