While doing research in the Corvallis Gazette-Times for the Jan. 2-3, 1935
time period, I made note of some items on vitals. Here's what I found for
the New Year's baby of that year. I also have info on a few marriage
licenses and four deaths. Surnames include: Adams, Barnes, Day, Friermood,
Gelvin, Hassler, Lewis, Merritt, Southam, Whiteside, Willman, Wood. If
anyone is interested, let me know. I'll also be posting these items on my
blog over the next few days at http://oregonancestry.wordpress.com/

*A New Year’s Babe* — A New Year’s day babe was born in Corvallis and
arrived at 12:15 just as dinner was being served at the Corvallis General
hospital. The arrival, a little girl, was born to Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Norton
of Blodgett and weighs six pounds and 6 1/2 ounces. Both mother and babe
are said to be doing well. The little visitor is the only one reported so
far for New Year’s day.

1935, p. 3, col. 2.

Here is another report of a baby. This little girl was not born until Jan.
2 but I'll include it here anyway.

*Baby Girl Arrives —* A daughter was born yesterday afternoon, January 2,
to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roberts of Blachly and the news was telephoned this
morning to Mrs. Roberts’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Soots, residing south
of Corvallis. Mrs. Roberts and her little daughter are in the Pacific
Christian hospital in Eugene and are reported doing very well. The babe is
the first granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soots, who have seven grandsons,
and they are delighted over the good news.
