Babe,

Oregon only had a requirement for registering births beginning in June of 1903.  In our state there is a 100 year restriction on making that information publically accessible.  If you go to the Oregon Historical Records Index you will find a significant number of the birth records in our holdings searchable on the index.  (This doesn't include images of the records)  http://genealogy.state.or.us/

You can also check the Oregon Historical County Records Guide( http://sos.oregon.gov/archives/Pages/records/local/county-inventories.aspx ) and look under the headings for Birth Records to see what records are still maintained by the counties and what records may be in the State Archives.  Some of the records held by the counties have be scanned by the volunteers from Family Search but the majority of those have not been indexed on their site although the images are available to browse.

Ancestry, Family Search, the Vital Records Office and the State Archives are working on an agreement that would have the vital records scanned and images made available.  Nothing has been finalized but we are hoping we will reach an agreement in the near future.

Per our usual practice the first business day of the new year the vital records are released as an entire batch.  This would include the 1917 Births, 1967 Death Certificates, 1967 Marriage Returns, and 1967 Divorce Returns.
