[or-roots] information about doctors in early Oregon

 Anne:  I think it was in the 1880's sometime that doctors had to be licensed in Oregon.  My great grandfather, Jesse William McClure, was known as a doctor and had to register.  I found him listed in a book that Willamette Valley Genealogical Society had in their collection when at the State Library.  I don't know if it was theirs or belonged to the library and I don't have the name of the book--so not much help!  

I'm looking for COMER descendants of the family that was in the Roseburg area at the end of the 1890's--Anne does this fit your history?   Linda

 Dang!  I immediately went to the Lane County page to see if there was any records of early physician licenses but find that early to them means 1889, much too late to help me with a man who was listed as a physician in the 1850s 1860s.  But it was a good try, so thank you.

A good source for information on early physicians is sometimes preserved at the county level.  Registers were kept of a variety of medical practitioners.
