Randy,

I was able to confirm that there was not a Ortho-Imagery partnership for Oregon for 2011. (It appears that the financial pain we are feeling is everywhere. Only 1 state formed a partnership for ½ meter resolution and many states did not acquire 4-band imagery for 2011.) The contract under NAIP is for 3-band, 1 meter, full state coverage. Hopefully the NAIP imagery will become available to the public through APFO in August (no guarantees).

It appears that Surdex will be selling a 4-band, 1 meter, full state coverage. Surdex can do this. We must remember that any product purchased through Surdex is an agreement between the two parties and has nothing to do with APFO or the NAIP program. If parties are interested in a 3-band product, I suggest they contact APFO and see what is available (CCMs, State Mosaics, etc.). If parties are interested in Surdex products, they need to contact Surdex.

To change the topic, the e-mail below is an attempt by APFO to provide some basic data about the 2011 NAIP imagery and gather more ground control. Obviously the more ground control the better the NAIP imagery for everybody. The attachment contains links to ground point requirements. I personally think that the NAIP 2011 Status Map link is a very helpful tool to see what is being done in Oregon and other states with the NAIP program

Please circulate the attachment to all interested parties. If someone is interested in providing ground points for the NAIP imagery, please have them contact me.

Call me if you have any questions.

Hi Kent,

In preparation for the 2011 NAIP program, APFO is again coordinating the acquisition of ground control points (GCPs) for image inspection. All 2011 NAIP states will be inspected using ground control.

Like before, I will be the APFO point of contact for Oregon. Although, we received some control from the 2009 flight, we are always looking for more.

It would be helpful if you could provide a list of potential contacts or participants for acquiring new or existing GCPs for your state.

I may or may not hold a teleconference to discuss everything. It depends upon interest levels. Attached is a .pdf with information about ground control and NAIP in general. If necessary, I can send the shapefiles from the maps in the .pdf too.

Once I hear back, I will put together a telecon agenda and provide the call-in information.

Thanks for your help.
