Subject: [Urban_Forestry] June 18 ODF memorial for Kevin Weeks

This message is sent on behalf of Dan Postrel

Hi everyone -

I wanted to let you know that the Forestry family will honor Kevin Weeks with a ceremony at the ODF employee memorial, along Mill Creek on our Salem campus, at 1 p.m. on June 18.

As you may know, this memorial, in a quiet, wooded spot, bears the names of men and women who passed away during or following their time with the agency, dating back to the 1943.

Details of the ceremony have yet to be determined, but I wanted to extend the invitation as soon as possible to our employees and friends. At this point, Kevin's wife, Stacey, and perhaps other family and friends, are planning to attend.

ODF and the forestry community were well represented this past weekend at the celebration of Kevin's life at his church in McMinnville. Doug Decker, Board of Forestry member Gary Springer, and about a dozen employees were on hand. Several of our partner and stakeholder groups also had a presence. An engine from the North Cascade District was parked near the church entrance.

I'd like to remind you as well about the fund through which the ODF family can assist the Weeks family with immediate and long-term needs, including the education of Kevin and Stacey's teen-age daughter, Jessica. Checks can be made out to the Weeks Forestry Family Fund (you'll need to use those words exactly) and deposited at any U.S. Bank branch or mailed to Mary Schmelz, here at 2600 State St., Salem, OR 97310.

The fund will remain open through April 30.

We in the Public Affairs Program appreciate your sympathy and kind words, and we hope to see you on June 18.

Best,

Dan
