There is currently one full-time position available with the Office of Student Learning & Partnerships<http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/results/?id=146> at the Oregon Department of Education<http://www.ode.state.or.us/home/> (ODE) in Salem, Oregon. This is an executive position and serves at the pleasure of the Deputy Superintendent.

The Office of Student Learning & Partnerships (OSL&P) supports and monitors programs that provide direct services to diverse learners and assists in the development of strategies to address unique learning differences. Units in this office manage programs that include special education, early childhood education, accountability and program compliance, and capacity building and partnerships with community stakeholders. This work is designed to ensure that multiple teaching and learning strategies encompass student needs derived from socio-economic, social, emotional, linguistic, cultural, ethnic or other differences. This focus allows learners to demonstrate their performance skills and to benefit from participation in meaningful venues as they prepare to become contributing members of the adult community.

Duties include:

Responsible to the Deputy Superintendent to ensure that all students, especially those with disabilities and other special needs benefit from effective educational services and programs and related services that lead to successful transition to adult life, independent living, and employment by:

  *   Leading, directing, and administering special education and related services for the State of Oregon.
  *   Developing, promoting, and implementing effective programs of services through school reform, instructional excellence, and interagency collaboration.
  *   Administering a biennial budget exceeding $450 million for operations, contracts, and grants for special education, related services, educational services, evaluation, research, program and resource development, personnel development, and other activities.
  *   Working with advisory groups such as the State Advisory Council for Special Education, the Cooperative Personnel Planning Council, the Higher Education Council, the Policy and Planning Committee of the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators, and others to create and sustain coordinated programs and services in an effective manner.
