OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY
ISSUED: Thursday, December 2, 2010 2:40 PM Jim Little
1. DISCUSSION AND FORECAST FOR SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON ZONES 624 AND 625
FRIDAY
Upper air charts show a deep and compact low developing about 500 miles offshore on Friday. This will pump up a weak ridge over the Pacific Northwest giving dry weather but a very stable atmosphere. Atmospheric ventilation conditions will be generally poor.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK (SATURDAY - MONDAY)
The upper low moves to about 600 miles west of San Francisco Saturday and winds aloft back to a more southerly direction. This brings some light rain northward from California and Nevada. Amounts will be light and confined mainly to southwestern Oregon. Ventilation conditions remain poor and transport winds generally southerly. On Sunday the upper low off the California coast weakens, upper flow continues southerly and ventilation conditions remain poor to marginal. Expect little change for Monday.

3. BURNING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ZONES 624 AND 625 INCLUDING THE WALKER
RANGE PORTION OF ZONE 624
This instruction is valid for burning conducted on Friday, December 3, 2010.
==================================================================
Unfavorable burning situation due to very poor smoke dispersion. Delay ignitions until 10:00am. Avoid ignitions within 20 miles to the E through SSE of SSRAs. For units that will smolder significantly through the night avoid burning within at least 35 miles to the E through SW in or near drainages leading to SSRAs. Verify transport winds away from SSRAs if burning in any other direction. Recommend against burning units that will smolder significantly overnight. Complete ignitions by 2:30pm.
