Multnomah County Library <http://www.multcolib.org>  is seeking
candidates for a full-time position as a Library Computer Training Lab
Coordinator for the North Portland Branch Library. This position will
manage the day-to-day operations of the computer training lab, ensuring
delivery of culturally-appropriate services to African Americans and
other culturally diverse users. Excellent communications skills,
especially the ability to put volunteers, users and fellow staff members
at ease, are essential. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
*	Developing, coordinating and delivering culturally appropriate
public and staff training programs.
*	Recruiting, training and supervising volunteer computer lab
assistants. 
*	Developing outreach programs to attract customers and volunteers
reflective of the community being served. 
*	Assisting other training lab coordinators in the library system
with the design and management of system-wide, interdisciplinary
projects. 
*	Assessing the public's needs and recommending/implementing goals
and activities for the computer lab.  
*	Providing culturally appropriate reference and reader's advisory
service in person or by telephone for customers of all ages and
backgrounds on public reference desks. 
*	Participating in collection development and maintenance. 

Requirements: 2+ years experience developing and delivering
computer-based trainings to a wide range of audiences; experience
recruiting, training and supervising volunteers is preferred. All
candidates must be knowledgeable about and have extensive experience
working with the African American community, demonstrated by knowledge
of the traditions, values and customs of the community. Bachelor's
degree in English, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or HR/OD required.
A Master's Degree in Library Science or equivalent desired.

Salary: $23.16 to $28.47 per hour. Deadline to Apply: August 28, 2009.
