It depends on when and where you went to library school.  When I went, back in the '70s, it was a one-year MSLS program for full-time students (32 semester hours).  I went back and got a 6th year Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS), which was another 24 hours, for a total of 56 hours.

Today most MLS programs are 48-64 semester hours.

I don't know about all y'all, but I earned my library degree in a
non-accelerated program in 20 months... 22 if you count the summer when
I wasn't taking any classes. Granted, I was only working about 20 hours
a week - not full time. But if I spread the courses out over an extra 3
summer terms, I could have managed... So how is this an "accelerated"
program?
