Also, does anyone have experience using the JFJ Easy Pro? If so, do you have any thoughts, or feelings regarding that machine? Susan BryantLibrary Technician
Dear Susan (and all libraries circulating laser optical discs):
We purchased JFJ Easy Pro in August of 2008. It has saved our library hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in disc repair.
Out of the box, it looks like cheap junk.
The hinges lean toward flimsy but the motor is a workhorse.
We own the model which says "Plus" on the body but not in the instruction manual.
Our version runs on 110w and cleans CDs, DVDs, Video games, and Blu-Rays.
The package includes a buffer, two abrasive solutions, anti-static spray, cleaning cloth, and a sandpaper; these items can all be purchased/replaced separately.
Do not purchase replacement cleaning cloth--Viva paper towels work equally well.
We have been using our JFJ Easy Pro every Saturday for the past eight years and it is still going strong.
The only issues we have experienced is it can run hot and it's possible to strip the threads if not treated gingerly.
Otherwise, this is an outstanding machine. It blows the doors off of the three, previous, hand crank cleaners we used in the past.
Did I mention the motor is a workhorse?
I would be happy to answer any questions off-line. Definite "must-buy" for libraries, budget-conscious and otherwise.
