Interprofessional Education Outreach Coordinator
The Interprofessional Education Outreach Coordinator (IPEOC) provides collaborative leadership for training and outreach efforts to improve health literacy in rural and underserved patient populations in Oregon through (a) the integration of appropriate information resources into patient care, (b) the education of health professions students, faculty, and providers within an interprofessional context, and (c) partnerships between academic and public libraries to improve public access to information that can improve health literacy competencies. This position provides training and develops materials for students, faculty, and providers in accessing/using appropriate patient information materials and in efficient strategies for assessing, and properly responding to, patients' health literacy levels. This position also develops and delivers outreach activities and programs for health care consumers. As appropriate, National Library of Medicine (NLM) tools and resources are integrated into these activities. In this work, the IPEOC partners with Pacific University's College of Health Professions schools and interprofessional education program, Pacific University's interprofessional and disciplinary clinics, community health clinics/organizations, and public libraries. This position also serves as the Oregon liaison to the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Northwest Region (NN/LM PNR) for the purposes of coordinating training, education services, and programs of the NN/LM PNR in Oregon. The IPEOC works under the direction of the Dean of University Libraries (Project Lead) and supervision of the Health Sciences Librarian (Project Manager). This is a part-time benefit-eligible position, working 34 hours per week. Regular travel within Washington County and throughout the state of Oregon will be required.
The position is primarily funded through a National Institutes of Health/National Library of Medicine award, NN/LM Region 6 RML, NN/LM Web Services Office (NWSO), NN/LM Evaluation Office (NEO) - University of Washington / NN/LM 2016-2021 RFA-LM-15-003 (1UG4LM012343-01), which is held by the University of Washington. Pacific University is the recipient of a pass-through subaward (No. UWSC 8999) for this award. The estimated project period for the prime award, as well as for the subaward, is May 1, 2016 - April 20, 2021.
