Today many of you may have seen an email about a change in the language
used on the ballot for this issue. I want to really thank the ALA office
for trying to make the ballot a bit clearer in a very short time.

Of course, it is difficult to simply state what your vote means on this
ballot issue on the voting page. The explanation page does explain it
well. I think the ALA offices still got it a bit wrong on the voting page
itself. Maybe I'll give a simple explanation a try though I'm not sure I
can state it any better.

The vote really comes down to this.

YES = you want to change the ALA Policy Manual to say that the MLIS is
required for the ALA Executive Director.

NO = you want to retain the current Policy Manual language. [FYI the
current language does say that the MLIS is preferred.]

It gets pretty esoteric.

Have fun voting, even if it is a bit of a bumpy ride.
