Everyone loves to hear stories about the place they live, yet few people actively seek out primary local history materials. If your library has a special collection full of rich historic details about your community, this presentation will discuss how to get your community to engage with your collections using social media, traditional media, and library programming. Finally, the presentation will explore ways to get people in your community to share their own stories. Zoom Link: https://emporiastate.zoom.us/j/93143473096

  * November 30, 1:00p PT - What's in a Data Story? Understanding the Basics of Data Storytelling<https://forms.gle/JFQVMrAPLqniwyd69>. A one-hour introductory webinar on the fundamentals of effective storytelling using data collected and visualized by librarians for librarians. Data without a story is just a pile of numbers. Data with an effective story becomes an everlasting narrative that people will remember for a long time and without much effort. In this talk, we'll look at the basic structure of data storytelling and review exemplars both good and bad of data storytelling. No prior knowledge of the topic is required.
