Hello everyone,

Here is a list minute addition to the monthly Online Continuing Education events for May:

Free: Leading Through Example: Exploring Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Library Workplace, Thursday, May 6, 4pm PT.

The program will begin with all participants attending a brief introduction before separating into one of two tracks:


  1.  Revolutionary Futures for Library Workers: Confronting White Supremacy to Imagine Liberatory Libraries
Reading alongside Sofia Leung and Jorge Lopez-McKnight, we will be imagining what revolutionary and transformational change toward social justice looks like in library work. Participants are asked to download and read the following article<https://pdxscholar.library.pdx.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1407&context=comminfolit> in preparation for the discussion.

  2.  Leading Through Language: Promoting Bias-free Communication in the Library
In this discussion, we will examine how biases pervade communication in unintentional ways and explore best practices to create a bias-free discourse inside and outside of the library space. Participants are asked to download and read the following guide<https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/bias-free-language/> in preparation for the discussion.
