[Libs-Or] New Roundhouse Library Grant for remote / rural public libraries

Greetings library community!

For those that are eligible (see #4 below), the following grant opportunity for rural school libraries and rural public libraries opens on June 1:

Roundhouse offers grants to support either programming or collections development for school libraries (up to $2,000 for a single school and $5,000 per school district) and public libraries (up to $5,000) serving rural communities in Oregon.

Eligibility & Other Considerations

  1.  Libraries must be government entities (including special districts), Tribal governments, or 501(c)3 non-profits.
  2.  At this time, college/university libraries and county law libraries are not eligible.
  3.  Organizations may apply for one collections OR programming grant per year.
  4.  These grants are only available for communities considered rural or remote with populations less than 40,000.
  5.  Please right-size your request to support only what you need. Funds are available until they are exhausted for the budget year.
  6.  Please note: Because we have limited funds available for each school and district, a signed letter of support from a library district director or building supervisor (such as a principal) or superintendent is required. We encourage libraries to work across their district or system to coordinate applications whenever possible.
  7.  Roundhouse Foundation is unable to fund individuals, religious or faith-based organizations, private charter schools, or political activity. We encourage you to review these criteria in full before applying: www.RoundhouseFoundation.org/grants<http://www.roundhousefoundation.org/grants>.
  8.  We are open to creative approaches and helping your organization with what is most needed. If you're not sure if your project is a good fit, please contact us.

Timeline

  1.  Application Period: June 1 - November 30, or until funds are exhausted for the budget year.
  2.  Review: Applications are reviewed at the beginning of each month. It can take 6 to 8 weeks to review projects.
  3.  For time-sensitive projects, please contact us. We are generally unable to consider projects that take place within four weeks following the submission date, but will do our best to accommodate needs with prior notice.
  4.  Final Report: If awarded funding, Roundhouse will request a brief final report on how funds were spent, successes, and challenges. Final reports are due 12 months following the decision date, but can be submitted early if funds are spent.
