Marine Board Holding Guide Advisory Committee Meeting October 15

              The Oregon State Marine Board will hold a meeting of the Guide Advisory Committee (GAC) via phone conference at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, in Salem. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss administrative rules related to HB 2039 and SB 25 affecting Outfitters and Guides and Charter Vessel Operators.
HB 2039, passed by the 2013 Oregon Legislature, directs the Marine Board to establish a new GAC appointment process in administrative rule. Current GAC members will help develop proposed language to do this. In addition, SB 25, which relates to Charter Boat operation, directs the Marine Board to appoint up to one individual who holds a charter boat license. The GAC will discuss terms of appointment, process and GAC management. The meeting will help staff draft proposed language that will be available for public comment in December.
          The meeting will be via phone conference, but members of the public may attend in person at the Marine Board office, 435 Commercial St NE, #400.  The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the conference room and is accessible for persons with disabilities.  Persons needing some form of assistance to participate in this meeting due to a disability should contact Randy Henry at 503-378-2612 by Friday, October 11 by 5 p.m.  Public comment will not be taken until the conclusion of the meeting.
