Another great question about the Ready to Read Grant application-which must be post-marked one week from today! (August 31,2011)
Q: Where do I put in-kind services, such as volunteer time, on the budget?
A: In-kind services such as volunteer hours should go in the "Amount of other sources used to pay for this" column. See the example below, I've highlighted the in-kind/volunteer hours in RED so you can more clearly see how to do it.
EARLY LITERACY PROJECT BUDGET
(Don't fill out this section if you are only doing a summer reading project.)
List things you will need to implement your Ready to Read Grant Project
Amount of Ready to Read funds used to pay for this
Amount of Library Budget used to pay for this
Amount of other sources used to pay for this
Regular and substitute staff-not performers, authors, or speakers.
Staff & volunteer time for storytimes
Books, subscriptions, software, DVDs, Cds, puppets, etc.
Storytime props, CDs, DVDs for storytime & collection
Computer hardware, furniture, other electronic equipment.
Performers, storytellers, authors, and other programs not presented by library staff.
Prizes/give away items such as books, pencils, bags, toys, etc.
Posters, wall-hangings, etc. for environment
