All –

The below opportunity was forwarded to me by a colleague in another state. I’m not familiar with this fellowship but it seems like a good development opportunity. There’s an informational webinar listed below for Monday May 20th at 12pm PST.

Subject: NGA/Uptake.org Data Fellows Opportunity for States

Want to use data better in your state?

Dear Governors’ Policy Directors and Advisors:

NGA is partnering with Uptake.org<https://www.uptake.org/>, the philanthropic and civic innovation arm of Uptake, to sponsor their next cohort of Data Fellows<https://www.uptake.org/impact/data-fellows>.

Through NGA, state officials seeking to improve their data science knowledge, skills, and methodologies are invited to apply to the Data Fellows program; a 6-month remote fellowship to help build data science capacity in government. The fellowship begins with a week in Chicago where fellows meet with mentors, participate in data science workshops, and network with like-minded data-for-good professionals. Fellows will be matched with a team of mentors from Uptake, Carnegie Mellon University, and UC Berkeley, who will spend the next 6 months helping them tackle critical problems facing their state. At the end of the 6-month period, Fellows will return to Chicago to present on the progress they’ve made over the course of the fellowship to their mentors and to the incoming class of new Fellows.

The fellowship is open to anyone who wishes to improve their data science knowledge, skills, and methodologies. We will prioritize projects related to health, energy, environment, transportation, and infrastructure. You can find the application HERE<https://www.uptake.org/forms/nga-data-fellows-application>.
