[Busmgrs] Green Ribbon Schools

Dear Business Managers,

We would like to announce the opening of the application period for the Green Ribbon Schools program. This voluntary program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes those schools and districts that are demonstrating excellence in all of the following areas:


*         Reducing environmental impact and costs

*         Improving health and wellness

*         Effective environmental and sustainability education

The applications are to be submitted to ODE who will then forward up to 5 nominees to the U.S. Department of education> if a nominee is awarded the recognition they will be invited to participate in local and national ceremonies and additional media coverage.

Please find attached the following to help you in filling out the application:

*         Introductory memo which provides more detail and the process and substance of the application

*         Application for a district-wide award

*         Application for a school-based award.
