[Busmgrs] facility grant 2018-19

The 2018-19 Facility grant is open for your submissions. The facility grant, which is a sub grant of the State School Fund, provides funding to schools that have already constructed new classroom space. New classroom space is defined as a new building, a new addition, a new school, a portable (pre-manufactured structure) or remodeled space that has not been used as a classroom for the past five years. The grant gives a maximum of 8% of the costs of constructing the new classroom space back to the district. The district can use these funds for any costs that are not new capital construction costs.

Districts can apply for the grant once they have occupied the building for at least half a year. You can apply for the grant the year in which the building first qualifies and the year immediately after that.  Applications are currently open for submission and are due by February 15th.

The grant, which is $9 million prorated for the 2017-19 biennium, is essentially paid out over the biennium. That means the first year, ODE is estimating what percentage will be the final reimbursement rate for the grant. Due to over $450,000,000 in new construction last year there is $4,215,230 left for the 2018-19 grants or about 1% reimbursement.

Attached are the latest application and instructions which are due February 15, 2019.
