[collaborative-vr] Using chat transcripts as research data

Hey Julie, nice to hear from you!  I actually I scrubbed those transcripts of personally identifying information by hand - good times!  I seem to remember it taking me a couple of weekends.  Good thing I had very few other commitments back then.

I can't say I read all of the messages, but I've been a lurker on the Collaborative-VR list for many years as well - a member since day 1 when Caleb started the listserv in fact!  I was the original coordinator of Maryland AskUsNow! from 2003-2008 and the 2001-2003 pilot project that led to it.  Glad to see that collaborative virtual reference continues.

YES! There were one or two OCLC research projects lead by Marie Radford and Lynn Conway doing exactly this. I'd recommend reaching out to Dr. Radford.

When we used transcripts at AUN for training, etc there were far less of them and we scrubbed the old fashioned way- cutting and pasting. Lol.
