COTTAGE GROVE TEMPORARY WARMING SHELTER

Temporary Warming Shelter: Carry It Forward (the nonprofit organization managing the Hwy 99 shelter site) is working with Lane County Search & Rescue to establish a temporary tent in the Cottage Grove area to house individuals during the upcoming anticipated freezing overnight temperatures Nov 27-30.  Individuals needing shelter can call 541.636.4497 after 6pm for additional information regarding location and services.

Dr. David Lewis Presentation - Indigenous Histories of Eugene presentation 6-7 p.m.
Tribal historian and Oregon State University Professor David Lewis will share emerging research on the Indigenous histories of Eugene. Lewis is a citizen of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, a descendant of the Takelma, Chinook, Molalla and Santiam Kalapuya peoples of western Oregon. He has engaged in research on the tribal histories of Northwest Coastal peoples, specializing in the Western Oregon Tribes.

Sheldon's College & Career Center is hosting a FAFSA en español night on Dec 7th at 5:30pm for families of students whose primary language at home is Spanish.

Families will get a full Spanish "Finding Funds" presentation from OSAC representatives, where they will go over scholarships, grants, and federal/state student aid. This event is open to students and families of grades 9-12 for all of our 4J High Schools.

The Career Pathways department at LCC is once again offering a FREE Computer Basics class to help people with little or no computer experience gain some familiarity with current technology. As previously, the classes will run in 5-week sessions. The first session of Winter term begins January 8th and the second session begins February 12th. Note: class days are changing to Tuesdays and Thursdays for both the morning and evening classes.

Morning class option:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 - 10:50am
LCC Main Campus, 4000 E 30th Ave, Eugene

Evening class option:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 - 7:50pm
LCC Downtown Campus, 101 W 10th Ave, Eugene
Anyone interested in taking the class should contact Career Pathways at 541-463-4701, we will help them get registered.
