Hello District 5 Self-Sufficiency/Child Welfare Staff and Community Partners,
Tuesday Tidbits are short, specific info bites you can use and share to increase collective knowledge of Lane County's wide-ranging community resource landscape. Below you will find Mental and Physical Health resources being offered in and for our local community.

[cid:image004.jpg at 01DAF89E.BE77E2A0] Option Counseling has a couple of great support groups, AFFIRM and BRITE!!

  * AFFIRM groups: AFFIRM is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based group designed to help LGBTQ+ youth and young adults manage stress. As an evidence-based intervention, AFFIRM supports mental and sexual health, enhances coping skills, and validates the strengths of its participants. AFFIRM is open to individuals aged 12-21. Groups run throughout the year, and most insurance is accepted. Grants may also be available for those unable to pay. AFFIRM integrates identity affirmation with CBT to improve wellbeing. Approaches include goal setting, grounding, developing safe social networks, exploring the impact of thoughts, and more.
  * BRITE (Building Resilience for Individuals through Trauma Education) groups. BRITE is an empowering and highly strength-based educational treatment program designed to build personal resilience by providing adults with information about:
1. The impact of very stressful life events on a person's overall emotional and physical wellbeing.
2. How to use that information to make informed decisions and make progress towards personally meaningful goals.
3. Practical strategies to enhance personal resilience that emphasizes practical steps to effectively cope with and self-manage the impact of past stressful events as well as being better prepared to meet current and future challenges.
