SATURDAY KIDS SOCIAL RESPITE EVENT

WHEN: Saturday, Jan 27th, 2024, 10am - 2pm
WHERE: 4181 E St, Springfield

The Arc Lane County hosts monthly respite events to give parents an opportunity to take a break. Parents do not have to be associated with The Arc Lane County to take advantage of these respite programs; but they must have a child (5-13 years) who experiences a disability, mental health or behavioral health challenge. Siblings are welcome to attend as well.

Northwest Youth Corps spring and summer positions open and taking applications. In particular, we have summer youth local crews<https://nwyouthcorps.workbrightats.com/jobs/1056249> for youth ages 15-18 and spring Urban and Community Forestry crews<https://nwyouthcorps.workbrightats.com/jobs/1052438> based in Eugene for young adults ages 19-26 (flyer attached).

Young adults need a high school diploma or GED but no outdoor experience is required and training is provided. Youth crews need enthusiasm and commitment. Youth experiencing poverty, homelessness, or the foster care system are strongly encouraged to apply.

NURTURING FATHERS PROGRAM

The Nurturing Fathers Program is an evidence-based, 13-weektraining course designed to teach parenting and nurturing skills to men. Each 2-hour class provides proven, effective skills for healthy family relationships and child development.

The Center for Family Development is offering their popular Pregnancy and Early Postpartum Support Group on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30 PM, starting January 11th. This 6-week group supports individuals at any stage of the perinatal period.

Through the group, participants will connect with other individuals and receive guidance on:

* Stress management
* Healthy bonding
* Information about pregnancy and infant development

This group is FREE for all participants thanks to a grant from the Early Childhood Hub of Lane County and is open to all, whether a client of CFD or not.

POSITIVE SOLUTIONS PARENTING GROUP

The Center for Family Development is offering their popular Positive Solutions Parenting Group starting January 22nd from 6:00-8:00 PM. This on-line 7-week group is for parents with children ages 3-6 years.

The group focuses specifically on managing challenging behaviors using positive discipline strategies and proactive approaches to parenting. Session content covers information about understanding challenging behaviors, developing consistent and logical consequences, building positive relationships, implementing successful family routines, and teaching self-regulation and emotion regulation strategies to children. Parents may also receive a certificate of completion.
