Hello District 5 Self-Sufficiency/Child Welfare/Oregon Eligibility Partnership Staff and Community Partners,

Tuesday Tidbits are short, specific info bites you can use and share to increase collective knowledge of Lane County's wide-ranging community resource landscape.
Below you will find Mental and Physical Health resources being offered in and for our local community.

[cid:image004.jpg at 01DBAE0B.9FD68130]The UO Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students is hosting a FREE Health Clinic, Dia de Salud 2025 on May 3rd, 8:30 am - 1 PM at Head Start of Lane County, 21 N Grand St, Eugene.
This clinic is being offered to help support low income and uninsured families in our community.

[cid:image009.png at 01DBAE0B.1F923370]The Black Cultural Initiative in partnership with the Eugene NAACP is hosting an informative lecture on Lifestyle Diseases and Ways to Healthier Living for African American, Pacific Islander, and Native American People.
When: April 26th, 11 am-1 pm
Where: 1965 Jefferson St, Eugene.

[cid:image007.jpg at 01DBAE0B.9FD68130]Veteran's and their families are invited to attend wellness events in Central Oregon.
The RETREATS are a one day integrative wellness day that includes  Equine Therapy, yoga and Veteran's receive battlefield acupuncture. The Spouse retreat also includes rhythmic drumming instead of the acupuncture.  These retreats are available to any Veteran in Oregon or who receives VA services in Oregon. There may be hotel lodging available and a fuel stipend for those coming from out of the Central Oregon area.
Participants will get an opportunity to try a variety of integrative wellness modalities.  They will start with some horse time with some activities with their Equine herd. No horse experience necessary and they do not ride. Just some mindful time to get connected with the horses and have some down time.  They supply a Mediterranean lunch followed by an introduction to mindfulness, breathwork and gentle YOGA or for the men Cowboy Stretching.  Veterans will have an opportunity to try Battlefield Acupuncture done by a Naturopath who has a black belt in Martial Arts. This will not be a time to process trauma, but a time to focus on self-care. The group is limited to 6-8  participants. Participants can come to the ranch before the retreat before you decide to attend.
These events are funded by a grant through Oregon Health Authority, so there is no cost to the Veteran.  These RETREATS fill up fast and are for small groups, so have your Veterans RSVP right away.
