Tuesday Tidbits are short, specific info bites you can use and share to increase collective knowledge of Lane County's wide-ranging community resource landscape.  Below you will find Mental and Physical Health resources being offered in and for our local community.

[cid:image007.jpg at 01DB610A.8B3846D0]Oregon Health Authority (OHA) provides guidance for putting your health and well-being at the top of your New Year’s goals.
Tips include vaccinations, quitting tobacco, reducing excessive alcohol use, getting active, supporting your mental health and eating better.

[cid:image008.jpg at 01DB610A.8B3846D0]Parents: Whooping cough cases are six times higher compared to the same time last year, according to preliminary data.
Babies are at highest risk of developing a severe case of whooping cough (pertussis). Some but not all babies develop a cough. Know the warning signs.
Look for:
- Trouble breathing or gasping for air
- Pauses in breathing
In young children, look for:
- Coughing fits, sometimes severe
- A possible "whooping" sound when trying to breathe between coughs
- Vomiting during or after coughing fits
📞Treatment for whooping cough is available and works best when given early! Talk to your healthcare provider right away if you notice any symptoms.
👶 Prevention:
- Getting a Tdap vaccination during each pregnancy prevents 9 in 10 of the youngest babies from being hospitalized with whooping cough.
- Babies receive DTaP shots at 2, 4, 6 & 15–18 months.

[cid:image009.png at 01DB6108.D2FB9FA0]Karuna Doulas offers regularly held Death Cafes that are intended to unite individuals seeking a deeper understanding and exploration of conscious dying. Through open-hearted discussions, presentations, and workshops, they aim to cultivate a safe space where members can share personal experiences and gain insights into the end-of-life journey. The also offer weekly grief and bereavement support groups.
