Oregon FIRST Robotics Grant Applications Available
The Oregon FIRST Robotics grant program was established by the 2011 Oregon Legislature through the passage of Senate Bill 5508. It is designed to support high school student participation in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Program. Grants are administered by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).
Oregon public high schools including charter schools and alternative high school programs housed at an Education Service District or community college can qualify for a grant of up to $10,000 per school. This funding will be awarded to start new teams and to help sustain existing FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams.
Grant applications are due on September 22, 2011. A completed application including signed assurances must be received by ODE via traditional mail, email, or fax no later than 5:00 pm on September 22, 2011.
The grant application is available at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=1626. Questions about the grant program can be directed to Tom Thompson at ODE (tom.thompson at state.or.us<mailto:tom.thompson at state.or.us> or 503-947-5790).
