Prosecutors and Law Enforcement:

Come join us at the beach on September 28th for the Sexual Assault Training Institute’s training focused on “Investigating and Overcoming The Consent Defense.” (Look how much fun Steve Bellshaw (Salem PD), Jodie Bureta (DOJ), and I had at our last training in Salem!). ☺

Also, did I mention that:

The training is FREE
There are travel scholarships available
We’ll be in Newport – in late September (which everyone knows is the best month at the beach)!

This topic is super important. The more people we have in the room to discuss how to overcome the associated challenges, the better! We’d love for you to join us!

Registration closes September 13th so sign up now!

Investigating and Overcoming
the Consent Defense
Law Enforcement & Prosecutor Training

Registration closes September 13, 2017

The Sexual Assault Law Enforcement and Prosecutor Training Project aims to increase Law Enforcement and Prosecutors capacity to effectively respond to and investigate sexual crimes by providing sexual assault specific training.

Proving lack of consent is often a difficult hurdle to overcome in the prosecution and investigation of sexual assault. This one-day training, presented by criminal justice professionals, is developed specifically for law enforcement and prosecutors. The training will equip participants with specific tools and techniques to address the consent defense in the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases. Participants will review relevant case law and will have an opportunity to develop strategies and build skills as they work through complex scenarios.
