Just a Reminder…

Oregon Department of Education staff are in the process of reviewing technology plans for Ed-Tech, and I am reviewing them for e-Rate. While many of the criteria overlap, there may be instances in which your plan will pass for one program, but not another. Please pay careful attention to the guidance you receive from your reviewer, and remember that an approval for one program does not guarantee approval for the other. You will receive separate guidance and separate approval letters for each program. I am working closely with my counterparts at ODE and we are committed to helping each and every district and ESD get their plans approved. As always, feel free to contact me with questions. ☺

See the attached newsletter for articles on:

 * FY 2008 Funding Status. Wave 48 for FY 2008 will be released on April 22nd.
 * Limits on FCC Tolerance. A reason FCC appeal decision on Form 470 issues, approving 39 appeals and denying 31 others, provides a lesson on what the FCC will and will not accept as clerical and ministerial errors.
 * PIA Outreach on Revised Web Hosting Eligibility. As promised last week, PIA has begun reaching out to applicants with Web hosting FRNs to determine if funding requests should be increased to account for Intranet hosting.
 * Schools and Libraries News Brief Dated April 17th. The SLD’s most recent News Brief discusses the requirements and procedures for requesting “operational” SPIN changes.
